 FrontPage is known not to be compatible with existing .htaccess files. If you want to take advantage of .htaccess features you will need to use FTP instead for uploading your website files to the server. Installing FrontPage extensions on a web site that already has .htaccess files will have the files automatically renamed to maintain functionality.
